Calf Driver/Technician

Objective: Safely and efficiently transport calves from Source Farms to Depot. Unload calves into proper housing safely for both the calf and individual. 

Job Description: 

  1. Drive truck and trailer from Depot to source farms in a timely and responsible manner.
  2. Communicate with source farm loading personnel on time of arrival and which calves to take.
  3. Load calves into trailer with proper technique and care.
  4. Maintain stocking density of trailer between each farm so no calves are at risk of injury.
  5. Communicate with Depot Manager on ETA back to Depot for unloading of calves.
  6. Help put calves in proper housing location.
  7. Execute all protocols correctly.
  8. Clean and sanitize truck and trailer after each use.
  9. Prepare truck and trailer for following morning pick up. 
  10. Set up maintenance truck and trailer on a regular basis. 
  11. Assist with feeding, treating, cleaning facilities, loading, and unloading calves.

Requirements:

  1. Valid driver’s license.
  2. Previous truck and trailer driving experience.
  3. Able to lift 100lbs.
  4. Work independently and efficiently.
  5. Punctual and trustworthy. 
  6. Preferred, but not required, ability to speak English.

Work Conditions:

This job is a full-time job of a 12-hour shift. The schedule runs a 6,4,4,6 day a week on schedule with every third weekend off. Days off during the week fluctuate.  

Compensation:

Compensation for this position will be based upon experience and education level, with excellent earning potential. Vacation days are earned as time progresses. After one year, a week of vacation has been earned and after three years of work, there will be two weeks of vacation earned.
