SUMMARY: 

The Electrician / Facilities Maintenance position is responsible for all electrical needs as well as general maintenance and repair of the facilities – both grounds and buildings – at all sites of Kinnard Farms.  There will also be some responsibilities of general maintenance and repairs to equipment within the buildings.

  1. Will possess strong electrical, mechanical, welding, carpentry and plumbing skills and be able to troubleshoot and correct mechanical problems
  2. Have strong written and verbal communication skills

  6. Ability to perform work to a very high standard

DUTIES:

  1. Perform all electrical work, as needed
  2. Perform routine maintenance and repair on our state-of-the-art dairy facilities
    1. A partial list of machine and facilities is as follows: garage doors, manure pumps, cooling systems (fans and sprinklers), sump pumps, lighting systems, water heating equipment, office HVAC, curtain systems, sand washing and recycling equipment
  3. Perform routine maintenance – grease, oil, inspect, bearing, belt and motor changes on manure pumping systems, replace faulty gear boxes and impellers, rebuild components if necessary.  
  4. Perform routine maintenance on all cattle waterers.
  5. Routine maintenance – grease, oil, repair, inspect garage doors – emergency repair on openers.  
  6. Perform routine maintenance – sand separating and washing equipment as well as replacing worn out or broken components
  7. Pre-season service and in season repair on cooling systems – fans, sprinklers, curtain systems and cooling pads
  8. Electrical maintenance – re-lamping barns and light wiring jobs
  9. Emergency repair and preventative maintenance of some milking equipment in conjunction with our dealer.
  10. Metal work – repair, build and replace worn gating, headlocks, and other metal work to keep facility looking and operating like new – must be able to fabricate and do a great job of welding
  11. Concrete work – repair and replace broken concrete
  12. Carpentry – repair broken and bent tin, build new projects as needed, finish and rough carpentry skills required
  13. Plumbing – able to plumb, using plastic, copper, black pipe
  14. All work is expected to be performed in professional manner.  The business has very high standards. Quality workmanship is expected on all maintenance, repair and construction projects.
  15. Must always carry a 2-way radio for communication.
  16. Able to work a rotating on call weekend schedule – schedule to be determined at time hire

WORK RELATIONSHIP: 

The Electrician / Facilities Maintenance position reports directly to the Facility Maintenance Manager.  The Facilities Maintenance team works closely with the outdoor team, feeding team and herd management team on necessary repairs and maintenance.  The Facilities Maintenance position will maintain open communication with all employees of Kinnard Farms.

WORK CONDITION: 

The Electrician / Facilities Maintenance position is a full-time position.  Normal work hours are Monday through Friday for a 10-hour day.  The schedule of hours for reporting to work is flexible and will be set at time of hire.  

There will be times and cases that will require staying longer than the 10 hours or reporting to work even on your day off.  These times are not continuous and with the exceptions of emergencies are scheduled in advance.
